Again they met where men still fear to tread,
in the woods where paths have never led.
Priests and elders burning to enact
ceremonies of an arcane pact.

Nightfall set and so their rite began,
summoning with hymns preceding man.
With the beating drums euphoria spread.
As the night set in, their hunger raged and so they fed.

Feasting upon human flesh, they fed.

Fed to the screams of their meat
and danced with their deity’s spawn.
Entranced till the red of the dawn,

To an unknown god they sang their praise,
remnant of long unremembered days.
Then as nighttime’s deepest blackness neared,
other things from far beyond appeared.
